Dirt

Dirt is a town located in the Mojave Desert, populated by many animals. Initially led by the mayor Tortoise John (the chief adversary) but after he was defeated by Rango and killed by Rattlesnake Jake, Rango assumed the position of the town's leader. The town was founded by Richard Harrison, a Meerkat.

During John's time as mayor, the town held a ritual every Wednesday at noon, where inhabitants would receive some amount of water.

In the extended version of the film, the town is renamed "Mud", after it was flooded during Rango's confrontation with Rattlesnake Jake.
